• Optimize the safety stock inventory considering demand and lead time variation and other disruptions by using the simulation-based technology in ALX. 

• Run various what – if scenarios and get the prescribed supply chain network configuration in each case. 

While usually we optimize for cost or profit, it is also possible to report carbon emissions and even optimize for carbon emissions to meet your sustainability goals in ALX. At Simwell, we usually follow the approach outlined as in the following figure for our customers. 

ALX is a state-of-the-art supply chain analytics software developed by The Anylogic Company. Most of the inputs and configurations required for SCND such as inventory policies, transportation policies and sourcing policies etc. can be modelled easily in ALX. But each supply chain in unique and in our experience, we have seen that there are often some bespoke constraints or business rules that needs to be adhered to. ALX provides a powerful feature of custom constraints to address this. Some examples of such constraints are: 

• If product 1 is produced in factory A, then product 2 cannot be produced in factory A. Stated in another way. Product 1 and Product 2 cannot be produced in the same factory. 

• A distribution center can source product from only 1 (or n) places in any period.  

• We need to order a minimum qty of raw material from each supplier that is used.
