  • Solvent extraction (SX): The pregnant leach solution goes through a solvent extraction process where the copper is transferred to an organic solvent. The copper is then redissolved into an aqueous solution.

  • Electrowinning (EW): The refined solution undergoes further processing through electrowinning. Here, an electric current is passed through the solution, causing the copper ions to plate onto cathodes, forming solid copper sheets.
